Take Home a Nude

It was a long weekend and I have just got back to London. I met up with a friend of mine, who came back from New York last week, for dinner. She was telling me all the exiciting stories about “Take Home a Nude 2008’ Art Auction at Phillips de Pury & Company - The New York Academy of Art which was founded by Andy Warhol and Tom Wolfe as the first graduate school in U.S. devoted solely to the study of the human figure, has a fundraiser selling a top collection of art nudes each year.

To celebrate 25th anniversary of New York Academy of Art, the special bonus of year 2008 (sponsored by MAC cosmetics) was that they had a series of paintings of Dita Von Teese naked by 12 artists, such as Will Cotton and designer Cynthia Rowley, along side of the works by Andy Warhol, Jamie Wyeth and many other great artists. I really wish I was there, but we can still share these beautiful paintings.

I'm a fan of Dita van Teese. Her style is burlesque, her show is burlesque, she really lives the burlesque live-style. There are some of this paintings of her, which show the real Dita. Picture by Inka Essenhigh and John Wellington show her style best.

These paintings are vastly differently done, but each shows its individuality. The paintings of Dita Von Teese shows the charm of burlesque queen so beautifully.

I'm also drawn to Meringue Study by Will Cotton! You are so right, it is very sensual and quirky!

Well done, I really love reading all your posts!

Dita von Teese is really a Staggering "néo-Pin up made for Fantasy " . . . and "Paris Crazy Horse Saloon " !!!! Indeed, a Fabulous artistical Muse . . . John Wellington's composition is singularly Gorgeous : a sulfurous mix of Statuesque serenity, of Voluptuous lasciviousness . . .
ps: Thanks Infinitely for your refined comment, Dear !!! I'm frankly glad to be in "cyber contact" with a person like You.

A Bientot, Antoine

Thank you all your guys. I like Dita Von Teese a lot and these paintings and sketches catpure a lot of her mysterious beauty!

I also love "Bath Tub", which has rather pretty sense of humour...

To Stilettostetico: Your beautiful and precise comments can only make me speechless! I agree, John Wellington did a brilliant job.

Actually, I was hoping to see if Will Cotton could do a oil on canvas for Dita, but he did a sketch. It is also great, but I guess he may capture Dita more by doing oil xx

amazing!! all the paintings are so good, i think Dita really was really great on the job. I read an article that she was about 3 hours nude for the artists and i wasn´t ashamed at all...in her place, i couldn´t! hehehee

A kiss!

To Kira Fashion: Thank you for lovely comment. Yes, that's right. I really admire her confidence!

She was posing for quite a while and she said in the interview, "... While I was posing, I just pictured myself in Paris, in the '20s, as a poor woman who had to pose nude to survive and feed myself..."

I do like the images of dita von teese. Lovely watercolours/sketches.
I used to love Andy Warhol but not so much nowadays- he is overrated!

To Winnie: I'm glad you like Dita, since I do like her and these paintings.

I understand what you were saying about Andy Warhol. Nowadays, most of arts have been tightly related to commercial value, so Andy Warhol was down the heart of the art and therefore became the heart of the commercial ...
