Bazaar Report aw08 - Part 1

I always find January and July very exciting. Not only there are sales everywhere, it is also the start of the new season. Particularly, I love the fashion magazines in July. Actually, I should say all the August issues. They are always 1 month in advance, right? I've just got my Harper's Bazaar - one of the best issues this year! So, I will try to update their Key Look Reports in the following posts for all of you who haven't got British Harper's available :)

Photobucket

I love Fierce Chic! The rock chic look goes more glamorous and sophisticated this autumn! The make-up and outfit are simply together and mysterious.

Photobucket

The belt-up look is my long-time favourite, since I got a vintage fur scarf from my mum. For me, this is the best way to wear it for a more day look - a new modern classic! I will carry on this winter.

Photobucket

I'm always a round-toe shoe girl, but I can feel pointed-toe is coming back this winter in a more dressy and sexy way... Then, I'm looking for a romantic pair, maybe I will get a pair of almond-toe platforms... yummy!

Photobucket

The structured silhouette is just amazing! It gives power into our winter outfit! I love both my slim trousers for a super long-leg sleek look and also my volume ones for my figure hugging cashmeres. Marc Jacobs has just created this perfect silhouette for Louis Vuitton. Girls, all we need is some simple clean make-up and a good wallet :)

It is great to get a sneak peek at these when I am all the way on the other side of the world. I particularly love the Balenciaga styled look at the bottom left of the last page. What is your take on these trends and your prediction for the hits to come?

My jaw dropped on the suade white shoes on the last page! Wow!

I am particularly excited about fall08. So many collections really came out with a big bang. Most notably Ricardo Tisco for Givenchy whom you seen on my blog has created such a phenominal line not only for RTW but Couture as well. I am also in love with Frida's nouveau hippie appeal for Gucci and also am a little fixated on LV's sculpted pumps, which are a bit reminiscent of Balenciaga's 06 harness boots, but I still love them. Amazing post, I can't get enough of fall fashion.

Oooo thanks for sharing! Usually the British Bazaar is $8-10 here in the states. I usually cave and buy it (because it is worth it ;), but thanks for the cheaper sneak!

wow! these pages from HB are amazing and inspiring! can't wait to see your takes on some of these trends! oh and i used to live in little downham outside of ely. we would visit some good friends in the summer out past the strawberry place and would stop on the way home and always take some back to eat with clotted cream :) i lived there for 4 years while my dad was stationed at lakenheath. its been far too long since i've been back!

Fashion mags "from UK" have always a particular "creative touch" . . .
Mmmh Mmmh So "a (subtle) round-toe shoe girl" against "pointy Arrogance" !!! Eeeuhh . . . "almond-toe", I don't understand (the literal french translation is "amande", the fruit ) . . . If you could enlighten an "ignorant French Guy" . . .

A Bientôt, Antoine

I only started reading Bazaar a couple of months ago...it's so good I can't believe I hadn't cottoned onto it before then!

ALMOND round toe or pointy shoes sound like a dream..... I prefer round though as my toes hurt down towards the point. xf

I have never seen that magazine in Spain, but I'm going go to London next week so I'll look for it there :D it seems to be a great fashion magazine!!
I like a lot the new trends for next season, it's like a mixture of romantic style, glam rock and femme fatale haha
Have a nice afternoon! :)

And thank you for this post. I don't know what it is about Harpers, but I never pick it up. I love fierce fashion and will be checking it out. Every item that caught my eye was from Balmain, what I wouldnt give for one of Christophe Decarnin's designs

Actually I love the August issues of italian fashion magazines too cause they're all about new seasons runways, but most of all I love the August issue of Vogue Italia (the only one which is not one month in advance, so I'll have to wait...) cause it comes with the always great shopping magazine :-)

Hello my darling!! Your posts and comments always make me smile so much! I do not usually read Harpers Bazaar as I figure I have to draw the line somewhere, not because of the money, I could give up food for my magazines, the reason is because I cannot bear to throw them away so where to keep them? However your post has given me something to consider! Well I definitely have to buy this issue!! I love fierce chic, I wonder if the Luella gothic witch look would fit into this one? Also loving belt up too! I hope my cream fur coat will still be ok for winter? Can I get away with it during a recession? xx

I love British Bazaar but unfortunately, living in America, I either have to wait for someone to post it (thank you very much, btw), or else I have to pay for a more expensive imported copy. Thanks! Love it!

What a treat to get a sneak peak inside British Bazaar! I subscribe to US, and it is definitely one of my fashion Bibles. I am so delighted to see all those fierce pointy toed shoes!

Tricia said...

love HB so love seeing the British version!! thanks, and i just don't feel ready for pointed toes in my heels again, so I'm with you on the almond toe.

Nancy said...

So "fierce chic" is officially a term now? I still prefer calling it the "bad-ass look"! I'm super excited for this fall trend!

Dana (MODAna) said...

I love looking at posts and editorials like these but sometimes I stop and think how wearable it all is.
And I don't just mean "it's crazy how they put it together, so over the top" but actually there are some single pieces that are so out-there I would NEVER go near them... like the giant fur shrugs and some of those stilettos. You gotta be Agyness or Mary Kate to wear that.

Charlotte said...

I love Balenciaga and Balmain lately! And those high heels, mmmmmm, sumernights, party...!!

Lana said...

Thanks for adding me to your blog roll! I already added you to mine :).

Miby said...

Gosh I love most of the things in here! Definitely Chic and sophisticated! That Balenciaga dress is gorgeous, is just so feminine! I personally adore shoes and those stilettos are something else! Love them all!

Thanks for sharing this Harper's report! :) xxxxxx

So into accessories with an edgy this season. I saw the same Fendi bag/clutch but I thought the bag was heavy and flat, which I wouldn't really use it at all. But the idea is cool.
