Hot Wax at Summer Night

What could be a better summer evening than attending a private viewing for an art exhibition? Well, boyfriend surprised me by taking me to this special Batik Hot Wax exhibition in Lauderdale House.

Batik is a wax and dye process on fabric that originates from SE Asia and Africa. I have always been fascinated about it. Basically, melted wax is applied to cloth before being dipped in dye. This exhibition is to celebrate transforming this beautiful process into contemporary art. These works done by some great local artists are truly amazing – each piece has that rich and beautiful colour with some original and creative design! I was absolutely amused by all these incredible arts! Plus the music and the food, we had a great time! (Of course, we have to take some pictures in the spectacular garden before going in.)

I took a World Art course in school and we learned all about batik. Needless to say I made a batik shirt of my own. It was really easy. I just used wax and RIT dye and then ironed the wax off. It was really great.

Oh& your blog is great. we seem to have a lot in common. I def think a link is in order!
